BIDEN WINS! Celebration in Times Square

7 November 2020—

Today it is 7 November 2020. Votes have been counted and everyone has been waiting for the election result since 3 November 2020, Election Day.  Who will be the 46th U.S. President?

On the news I heard that the Associated Press projects that Joe Biden will be the President-elect.

I went outside to see people’s reactions to the result. Is it going to be a celebrating, cheering atmosphere or protests by Trump supporters?

The first thing I noticed was “OUT NOW” stickers attached to outwear, even on masks.

I went to 5th Ave and 57th street where the Trump Tower is. Whole area was barricaded, and full of police officers.

Not much was happening. I saw only one person, popped a champagne bottle and his friend recorded it.

I continued walking to Times Square.

Oh, Times Square, very crowded with people in a festive mood.

Bikers rallied first.  Too many of them were showing their skills of control.

And cars followed bikes. I stopped counting cars, many, many of them to count. Honking, cheering up, waving flags.

Holding signs read “Biden and Kamala 2020”.

And this one, written on a car window, very simple yet very creative: “JOE+KAMALA!!(Heart)

Someone with a red hat noticed my camera and posed.

Expect the unexpected.

“Go away, go away” some people shouted at them. They gave them a big smile and continued clapping.  They were speaking in another language.  I wasn’t sure if they knew what that MAGA hats were about.

I saw another image of a lady in tears, and left them.

I called this image a ‘combined emotions’: tears in smiling eyes, right hand over heart, and a half empty glass of drink.

“Are you sad?” I asked.

She said: ”Oh, no, not at all!”

“Are you alone?”

“ No, I am with friends,” she looked at friends next to her.

“Why are you crying?

She took a sip from her drink: “ I can’t stop crying all day,”

Took another sip “ These are TEARS OF JOY”

And some others were celebrating the news in a different mood: Singing and dancing.
