24 June 2022—

On Friday, 24 June, after the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn 1973’s Roe v. Wade ruling, which gave the constitutional right to an abortion, to protest the ruling protesters had got together in different locations first, and thousands gathered in Union Square and Washington Square Park.

A small group of people, young, old, mail, female, representing Jewish community met at Madison Square Park. One protester  was holding a sign read: “BANS OFF my KIDS & GRANDKIDS.”

A rally at Madison Square Park started small, and they marched to Union Square to merge with thousands more protesters.

Some of the signs were focused on CHOICE!

I saw one anti-abortion protester; a father, with his kid. His sign says: “ Vasectomy! Come on guys, Save some lives!”

And some had more humorous signs.

Later Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Governor Hochul came to Union Square to address the crowd, and urged them to keep up the fight.

Ocasio-Cortez said that Roe v Wade is not women’s right issue, it’s an issue for everyone.

Governor Kathy Hochul said that New York State will protect a woman’s right to choose and will be a safe harbor for women across the nation.
