Flags on a hot dog Vendor’s pushcart on the 42nd Street.

Yesterday, it was a very busy day for New York. There were so many events to join, places to go. The 148th Annual Kings County Memorial Day Parade, the oldest parade in honor of fallen soldiers; Memorial Day Concert at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, the NY Philharmonic Memorial Day Concert at St. John the Divine Cathedral in Manhattan, the Intrepid Museum’s offerings for the Fleet week were just a few events that I was aware of. .

I decided to stay near Times Square.

I didn’t see any parade with a lot of flags. But a hot dog vendor’s pushcart was the first thing caught my attention on the 42nd Street. It was decorated with, at least, five flags. And they were moving as if choreographed with a help of gentle wind.

There was a beautiful concert in Bryant Park. Not so crowded it was, I got a front chair very easily.

And I moved to Times Square, hoping that I would see some sailors to feel the Fleet Week.

I followed a sailor to see what his interest was. Interestingly he didn’t pay much attention to Times Square characters and just read the news on the ticker tape, and looked at the ads on the billboards.

The other one didn’t get so close to, or have his picture taken with body painted girls, but watched them.

I counted at least four body painted girls of the US flag. They were approaching everyone for a picture, and for them there was only one think important: money. After every pose, every picture they were counting their money.

Some sailors were not shy at all. They had their pictures taken by each other, or they did selfies, and show them to the girls too.

And I took their pictures. With a concert, with flags of all kinds, and with sailors it was definitely an interesting Memorial Day for me.
